Shah Hemp Inno-Ventures, led by Nivedita Bansal and Dhiraj K. Shah, a social enterprise based in Nepal, is transforming wild-grown hemp, bamboo and other natural resources into a catalyst for fair employment, economic growth, climate change mitigation, eco-friendly construction and sustainable hemp-based products.

At our warehouse, we are processing fresh himalayan hemp stalks to create the eco-friendly building material known as hemp shivs/ hemp hurds.

Hempcrete is a natural building material made from the inner core of the hemp plant and a lime-based binder. It is lightweight, breathable, and offers excellent thermal insulation. What's more, it is completely biodegradable and has a negative carbon footprint, making it one of the most eco-friendly construction materials available.

It takes around 3-4 months for the plant to grow fully and be ready for harvest. Local villagers harvest and collect these plants. Using traditional methods, stalks are retted in river streams and fibers are separated from the hemp stalks."
