Our journey so far..

Our passion for hemp products began in 2017, when we discovered the strength and durability of hemp fiber and fabric sourced from local villages. With the help of a skilled leather bag craftsman and the drive of a friend, we embarked on a journey to create 100% hemp bags and more.

Over the past 5 years, our team of artisans and craftspeople has handcrafted hemp bags in a diverse range of 120 unique designs. Each of our products is a testament to our commitment to preserving traditional techniques and sharing the stories behind the hands that created them. Today, we offer an extensive collection of over 150 products crafted from hemp fabric and hemp fiber.

Janauary 2017

Established our workshop in Janakpur and started making hemp backpacks, folder & pouches for conferences.
February 2017

Collaborated with local Mithila artist to develop Mithila painted Hemp table mats (Home Furnishing).
January 2018

Started making ladies hemp bag with ladies bag expert.
October 2018

Collaborated with local hand embroiders to make one-of-its-kind hemp bags
March 2019

Co-created with local technicians, hemp bags for drills, grinder, tools, guitars, etc
September 2019

Got together with Moms to develop hemp school bag & pencil cases especially for kids.
Decemebr 2019

Started supplying to retail hemp boutique in US and Europe.

Our Work Process

One-of-its-kind:
Our collection boasts an extensive selection of hemp bags including backpacks, folders, sidebags, ladies bags, footwear and professional bags with over 100+ distinct designs. With production limited to small batches of 5-10 pieces, each product is truly one-of-a-kind. Our hand embroidered hemp bags are a standout feature, offering individuality and uniqueness with each piece carrying its own distinct Id and barcode.

100% Hemp
Our bags are made with 100% hemp fabric on the exterior and cotton on the interior. Our hemp fabric is procured from skilled artisans who weave it using traditional handlooms. These communities have honed their craft for generations and have preserved the industry even during the time when the plant was banned.

Customised Manufacturing
We are thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with over 12 organizations in the last 6 years, creating custom products for each one of them. Each project has been a valuable learning experience, allowing us to gain expertise and further build our confidence in preserving our clients’ brand identity.

Handmade by Skilled Artisans

The backbone of any handmade item lies in the expertise of its makers. Our craftsmen have honed their bag-making and embroidery abilities for generations within their communities. Unfortunately, these traditional skills are being lost as a result of increased reliance on machines. Many of these artisans now make a living through unskilled labor, while others have been forced to migrate to larger cities and work for large-scale production companies, leaving their families behind in rural areas.

At our company, we are committed to supporting these skilled craftsmen and their families by producing our products in their communities, allowing them to remain close to home and earn a sustainable income. Our region has a high number of residents who have been forced to seek employment opportunities outside of Nepal, and we believe it is important to reverse this trend by providing stable livelihoods through artisanal production.

With a steady pace, we have achieved great success at SHIV. Our focus on quality over quantity has allowed us to consistently manufacture over 8000 hemp bags over the past 6 years. These bags have been designed for a variety of purposes, including hemp stores, boutiques, conference course bags, corporate branding, and more. Our experienced team takes pride in their craft and it shows in every piece we create.

Benefit of utilizing local and natural resources is that they are easily accessible. A significant portion of our materials are sourced from nearby communities who have been steadily growing their supply abilities and are enthusiastic about the process.

Our production facility is constructed using eco-friendly materials such as hemp, bamboo, lime, and clay. Our custom-made storage solutions, made from metal and bamboo, are specifically designed to streamline and simplify our manufacturing process. By implementing procedures and checklists, we have improved the productivity of our team.

Reducing Waste by Repurposing Scraps

At SHIV, we believe in utilizing every resource to its fullest potential. That’s why we make an effort to recycle all of our waste material, including fabric scraps. These scraps are reassembled and used to create new bags. Any fabric that is too small or unusable is transformed into stuffing for cushions and pillows. Additionally, we also reuse our storage containers to further minimize waste.

Every item in our collection is carefully crafted by hand in limited quantities, ensuring that each piece is truly unique. To purchase from us, simply fill out a request for a quote. We offer worldwide shipping.

For retail customers, there is no minimum order size or value required. Wholesale buyers, such as boutiques and stores specializing in hemp products, eco-friendly products, handicrafts, and sustainable products, can purchase from us with a minimum order value of $1000.

As part of this commitment, we offer our customers the option to repair and recycle their hemp bags with us.
