At Shah Hemp Inno-Ventures, we have pioneered the creation of hemp-based products in our region. We created a supply chain with the villagers in western foothills of Himalayas to source wildly grown Hemp Stalks which were previously burnt to disposal. Thus, reducing the carbon emission and providing an extra source of income for the villagers.
We started with chopping hemp stalks with hands and in one week with 3 members we could process 100kg hemp shivs (hurds) and which was just enough to build 40 cu ft of hempcrete wall.
Realising the scale of the volume, we started developing our hemp processing unit. Through discussions with hemp industry pioneers, machine developers, welders, metal workers and after endless hours of processing 70 tons of hemp stalk we have developed a small scale and efficient hemp processing unit. Hemp Stalks are processed via decorticator machine.
We encourage use of small man assisting machines to improve output and generate more and more employment rather than replacing humans with big industrial machines. Our processes are guided by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Along with Hemp stalks we have also created ethical small scale supplies for natural resources like Bamboo, Lime, Clay, etc. Thus developing a complete natural building eco-system.
Communities we work with have been consistently increasing their supplying capacity and are excited about the process.have
We process Quick-Lime to Hydrated Lime Putty. The lime is stored in tanks for minimum 6 months before use. This insures the best quality and plasticity while working with lime. The quick lime is imported in huge quantites and stored in huge tanks for long duration to reduce the carbon footprint of lime if required to store long periods of time, which cement bags does not offer (they have to be used within 3 months or they get cured).

Small Scale Bamboo Processing Unit
We process our bamboo locally harvested from villages. The bamboos are age labeled, harvested at proper age and treated naturally. We innovate and build products with bamboo which would have been made by wood, plyboard, plastic and other unsustainable materials. We use bamboo not only for furniture but mainly for construction. The use of bamboo is increasing many-folds in use in almost all walks of life.
