Bamboo Gazebos | Madhesh Pradesh, Nepal
Shah Hemp Inno-Ventures (SHIV) was awarded the tender to build 3 bamboo gazebo across three local municipalities (Nagarpalikas) in Province No. 2. The designs were provided by Ratauli Yuwa Club (RYC) and executed by SHIV using sustainable and community-appropriate construction practices. Building these bamboo gazebos brought together local governments, youth organizations, craftsmen, and community members — demonstrating how multi-stakeholder collaboration can enhance public infrastructure and create lasting impact.

Community Impact
This bamboo gazebo project bridged traditional knowledge and modern techniques, fostering community pride and interest. Upgraded public infrastructure in areas with limited waiting facilities. Daily benefit to hundreds of commuters, visitors, and locals using the waiting spaces.

Key Learnings from this project
- Versatility of Bamboo: This project reaffirmed bamboo’s adaptability as a primary construction material, capable of delivering both durability and aesthetics for community structures.
- Promotion of Nut–Bolt Joinery: The successful use of nut and bolt connections in bamboo joinery set a positive example within the community, encouraging wider adoption of safer, more reliable, and replicable construction practices.
- Efficiency Through Pre-Fabrication: The experience highlighted that project timelines and quality can be vastly improved by preparing bamboo elements and nut–bolt assemblies in the workshop, and then transporting them to the site for rapid installation.
